PBA Player of the Year Wes Malott Bids for King of Bowling Sweep

Seattle, Wash. - 5/16/2009

Wes Malott of Pflugerville, Texas, is one game away from a five-match sweep in his bid to become the inaugural Professional Bowling Association King of Bowling Powered by Amp Energy.

Malott, who rallied from a 32-pin deficit in the fifth frame on the May 13 telecast to defeat 2007-08 PBA Rookie of the Year Rhino Page of Topeka, Kan., 257-233, will bowl the winner of a match between Brad Angelo of Lockport, N.Y., who finished 10th in the PBA Player of the Year points race, and Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III, a 32-time Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour champion, joined the King of Bowling field as the “wild card” selection.

A fifth consecutive win by Malott will mean a grand total of $50,000 in prize money - $10,000 per victory – and the undisputed crown as King of Bowling for 2008-09.

The one-hour King of Bowling Powered by Amp Energy telecast will air on Wednesday on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. Eastern.

“I’ve had some good fortune so far,” Malott said, “but now the only thing on my mind is being the king at the end of it all.”
